The former comprises all the movie ending themes, a couple TV themes, and various image songs the latter comprises a great deal of previously-released and previously-unreleased background music from the TV series and movies. The Best Song Collection and Complete BGM Collection sets saw their release in February 2006. These four sets are essentially a further collection of the Hit Song Collection CDs. The Complete Song Collection sets compile nearly all of the vocal songs ever released on any Dragon Ball Z CD, including both image songs and those actually used in the series or movies. Disc 5 is BGM from the three Dragon Ball movies and the first nine Dragon Ball Z movies, and also includes the ending theme to Dragon Ball Z Movie 9. Disc 3 is opening/closing themes from the second TV series, as well as insert songs, image songs, and the closing themes for the TV specials and first eight movies. Disc 2 is all background music (BGM) from the first TV series. Disc 1 is the opening/closing themes from the first TV series, many episode insert songs, and some image songs sung (in-character) by the actors from the show.
The Dragon Ball & Dragon Ball Z: Daizenshuu five-disc set is an impressive collection of music. The first disc is very up-tempo, while the second disc is much slower paced.
The Never Ending Story two-disc set is a “best collection” of music from the Hit Song Collection series of CDs. As the series initially came to a close, and especially after the revival in Japan after 2002, the Dragon Ball franchise received a wide variety of specially-packaged, multi-disc collections celebrating its wide variety of music.
